String Quartet "Oh Yali Le" Premieres at Chengdu City Concert Hall, Sichuan Art Fund Project Holds F

On the evening of August 29, the Chengdu City Concert Hall hosted "Love City – Classic Film Works and the Final Concert of the Sichuan Art Fund 2026 Funded Project String Quartet 'Oh Yali Le'." This performance was not only a Chinese classic music audiovisual feast but also the first final public performance of the 2026 Sichuan Art Fund funded project, the string quartet "Oh Yali Le."

The string quartet "Oh Yali Le" project was led by renowned composer and Associate Professor of Composition at Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Zheng Renqing, who applied for and secured the project's establishment. Zheng Renqing is an expert at the Ministry of Education's Degree and Graduate Education Development Center, and also serves as a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, a director of the China Popular Literature and Art Research Association, a director of the Sichuan Musicians Association, an executive director of the Sichuan Music Literature Society, a vice president of the Sichuan Popular Literature and Art Research Association, and the head of the Academic Committee at the Continuing Education College of Sichuan Conservatory of Music.

According to reports, the first draft of the work was completed in early 2025, with musical material drawn from two original folk songs of the Ersu Tibetan people from Shimian County, Sichuan Province. The title "Oh Yali Le" means "let's dance." The work was submitted for the 2026 Sichuan Art Fund, established by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, and was successfully selected in July of this year.

After the project was established, Zheng Renqing immediately devoted himself to revising and polishing the work, making eight revisions to the score. During the creative process, the work received careful guidance from his mentor — renowned composer, recipient of the Beverly Hills Art "Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award," and the sixth President of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Professor Yi Ke. Through continuous innovation and refinement, the artistic quality and completeness of the work were steadily enhanced, ultimately becoming an artistic masterpiece and forming the final version performed at the concert hall.

The premiere was performed by the Lai Zhi Music Ensemble. Ye Wenbo, one of the key leaders of the project, has been praised by renowned music critics as an "emerging new-generation young conductor of China." He serves as the head, artistic director, and chief conductor of the Lai Zhi Yin Symphony Orchestra, artistic director of the Lai Zhi Yin Ge Xing Choir, and permanent conductor of the Nanchong Song and Dance Theater of Sichuan Province. Under the guidance of composer Zheng Renqing, Ye Wenbo coordinated and meticulously rehearsed the performance. Young musicians Qian Lin, Fu Ruiqi, Yan Chengming, and Ma You performed together on stage. The team demonstrated excellent coordination, using superb performance skills and delicate emotional expression to vividly interpret the ethnic charm and creative essence of the work, ensuring the successful completion of the premiere.

As the music slowly began, the audience was immediately drawn into the musical scene of the Ersu Tibetan people celebrating and dancing together, deeply moved by the artistic atmosphere. As the final note faded, enthusiastic applause filled the hall.
